Electric Train Work

The electric train as is clear is one that is run with the use of electricity. The electricity that is used for powering the train maybe created from any source. This electricity may be created with the help of a diesel engine, windmills or even hydroelectric power. The electricity is transmitted through overhead lines, battery or third rail which in turn makes the train run. In case of electric trains the electricity is generated using any of the sources and then is stored in the batteries or ultra capacitators which is then used to power the wheels.

The electric trains have proved to be a more efficient and cost effective option as compared to the earlier steam engines. The first electric passenger train was built in the year 1879 by Werner Von Siemens who was a German engineer. The electric trains of today are much superior to its earlier counterparts as they have been improved upon to keep up with the changing times. As a result of using electricity to power its movement the electric trains are really fast. They are also environment friendly as they do not cause any pollution. Electricity being what powers the electric trains it works out cheaper for not only those who operate it but also those who use it for traveling. Due to the convenience and comfort that it offers the electric trains have gained popularity as the chosen mode of transport.

The present day diesel electric trains that we see today use the same principle wherein the electricity is created or generated using the diesel engine. This electricity is then stored in batteries which is then used to power the train. The diesel electric train uses technology to combine the benefits of both the diesel and electric train and thus, is a result of the developments in technology.
